For Reference: the Old Blog Back

I put this blog behind a password wall when I ceased having time or energy for it and didn't want people asking me why and if I ever would write more again.

It's been suggested to me, however, that with the publication of the book I wrote with Luca Turin, Perfumes: The Guide, it might be nice to have the old stuff up.

However, looking back, I found a lot of it boring, navel-gazing, hastily dashed off, based on outdated links, or seriously invasive of the privacy of family and/or friends who would like me to leave them out of it this time. Therefore, I have decided to republish a selection, arbitrarily chosen by me.

I must note that after the date on July 2005 when Luca posted a comment, I seem to have suddenly snapped to attention: I am convinced that merely knowing he was reading made me write better. Though an embarrassed Luca insisted I delete the portion of my introduction to the book in which I explained how his influence changed the way we all look at perfume and how it changed my work and my life, he can't very well stop me from mentioning it here. -Tania Sanchez
